<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent upsizing of an optical system or an apparatus while improving cooling capacity of a polarizer, in a projection type display apparatus using reflection type display elements. <P>SOLUTION: This projection type display apparatus projecting images displayed on the reflection display elements using light emitted from a light source on a projecting screen, is provided with the polarizer on an optical path from the light source to the reflection display elements, an air sending means sending a cooling air to a light incident side of the polarizer, and an air guiding means guiding cooling air so as to impinge on the polarizer in the diagonal direction in relation to the light incident face of the polarizer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
