<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight back light and a liquid crystal display, easy to assemble and capable of preventing noises resulting from radiation voltage. <P>SOLUTION: This back light 1 comprises a lighting means provided with at least a light guide plate 14, a reflecting plate 2 disposed on a back face of the light guide plate 14, a bar-shaped light source 13 disposed on a side face of the light guide plate 14, a light source reflecting plate 2 covering the bar-shaped light source 13, and a conductive member 3 covering the light source reflecting plate 2; and a non-conductive case 4 housing the lighting means. In the back light 1, a tongue piece part 4a extended toward the lower part of the non-conductive case 4 is formed in the conductive member 3.
