ALICYCLIC EPOXY RESIN, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME, COMPOSITION OF THE SAME, EPOXY RESIN CURED PRODUCT, AND USE OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alicyclic epoxy resin excellent in transparency, suitable for an optical material, a coating material, etc., and solid at ordinary temperature.

SOLUTION: This alicyclic epoxy resin satisfies requirements (a) to (d) as follows: (a) an epoxy equivalent is in a range of 500-10,000; (b) an aromatic ring hydrogenation percentage is not less than 96%; (c) a softening point is 40-200°C, when measured by a ring and ball method according to JIS-K-7234; and (d) a light transmittance is not less than 90%, when measured at a wavelength of 400 nm.
