PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems such as the distortion of images due to the generation of the inclination of an actual scanning surface in an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus which forms a three-dimensional echo data acquisition space by repeatedly executing electronic scanning while executing mechanical scanning. SOLUTION: A first half of the mechanical scanning is indicated in (A) of Figure, a second half of the mechanical scanning is indicated in (B), and interpolation scanning planes R and R' are generated between the actual scanning surfaces S and S' in each of the mechanical scanning. The interpolation scanning planes R and R' are parallel to a direction y which is an electronic scanning direction, that is orthogonal to a mechanical scanning direction (direction x). The interpolation scanning planes can be generated from two actual scanning surfaces in the relation of crossing each other as well.
