PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motorcycle retaining an arrangement space for a storage box and a foot placing part by suppressing the vertical height of an engine, and to provide the engine for the motorcycle. SOLUTION: In this motorcycle 1 mounting on the front wall 9c of an engine case 9, the engine formed by directing a cylinder body 14 and a cylinder head 15 to the front of a vehicle and connecting approximately horizontally a cylinder axis B, and arranging the storage box 7 above the engine, the cylinder body 14 is offset in such a manner that the cylinder axis B passes through a lower side than a crank axis 12a, and an intake passage 23 connected to the upper wall of the cylinder head 15 extends to the rear of the vehicle, to connect a passage area varying member to the intake passage 23.
