PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coal gasifying furnace keeping the feed rate of char constant and simplifying the constitution. SOLUTION: The coal gasifying furnace 2 is designed to feed recovered unburned char into the interior of a gasifying furnace 1 and burning the char. The coal gasifying furnace 2 is characterized as follows. A decompression apparatus 21 for reducing the pressure in a char transfer line and a char storage hopper 17 storing the char passing through the decompression apparatus 21, metering the char and feeding a required amount of the char into the interior of the furnace are installed in the char transfer line 19 for the char.
