PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter for purifying an aquarium for a fish or an aquatic animal effectively removing ammonia discharged by the fish or aquatic animal, immediately usable by setting the aquarium with functions of nitrifying bacteria implanted in carbonized cotton and sufficiently carrying out purification by only aeration or filled oxygen without requiring a special apparatus for purification and to provide a method for producing the filter and a method for preserving the filter for purification.

SOLUTION: The filter for purifying the aquarium for the fish and aquatic animal is characterized as follows. The filter comprises the carbonized cotton obtained by baking cotton as a raw material. The bacterium is implanted and immobilized in the carbonized cotton and formed into each sheet.
