<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a pseudo contour or a void from occurring owing to a change in a UCR (Under Color Removal) quantity. <P>SOLUTION: A color conversion UCR circuit 406 performs base color removal by replacing color composition signals with black signals in accordance with a base color removal quantity, and a CPU 415 lowers a black UCR quantity in a predetermined reference value. When a starting position of a density value for adding black to an original is changed to a high density side, the CPU changes gamma conversion characteristics of a density region wherein the base color removal quantity is 100% or is close to the background of an original in a printer gamma correction table for predetermined gamma conversion characteristics previously generated for a monochromatic mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
