<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control system with an oxidation catalyst and a filter in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine, for performing oxidation removal of particulate materials accumulated in the filter and at the end on the exhaust gas inflow side of the oxidation catalyst while suppressing the worsening of fuel consumption due to the oxidation removal of the particulate materials. <P>SOLUTION: In the exhaust emission control system for the internal combustion engine, when the filter is determined to be in an internally clogged condition (S101), fuel is supplied to the oxidation catalyst for increasing the temperature of exhaust gas flowing into the filter to avoid the internally clogged condition, and when the oxidation catalyst is determined to be in a clogged condition at the end on the exhaust gas inflow side and the internal combustion engine is determined to be in an operated condition allowing the temperature at the end to be increased to a preset temperature (S103, S104), fuel more than that in the case of avoiding the internally clogged condition of the filter is supplied to the oxidation catalyst for increasing the temperature at the end to the preset temperature to avoid the clogged condition at the end. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
