PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber layer exhibiting a high absorbability to solid or stain of solid.

SOLUTION: The invention relates to the fiber layer 4 comprising at least one pre-entangled spun bonded web 5 composed of filaments and at least one fiber layer composed of hydrophilic fibers. The fiber layer is hydrodynamically entangled and the surface of the hydrodynamically entangled fiber layer is subjected to embossing deformation. And at least one pre-entangling of the spun-bonded web is carried out by using a calendar, especially an embossing calendar.
