PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an action evaluation method for a drawing device capable of specifying a cause for delivery failure occurring in a delivery nozzle at maintenance of a function liquid drop delivery head, and a drawing device. SOLUTION: The action evaluation method for the drawing device for carrying out drawing action for drawing on a work by the function liquid drop by driving the function liquid drop delivery head; and maintenance action for carrying out the maintenance of the function liquid drop delivery head using a head maintenance means comprises a drawing step for drawing a predetermined test pattern on the function liquid drop delivery head after the maintenance; an image recognition step for image-recognizing the drawn test pattern; a drawing failure determination step for determining whether or not the drawing failure is generated based on the image recognition; a failure specifying step for specifying which of the function liquid drop delivery head itself and the action of maintenance is the cause for the drawing failure based on the image recognition when it is determined as the drawing failure.
