PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position/inclination detection device, a position detection method and an inclination detection method capable of specifying the position/inclination at comparatively low cost by using a general-use image reading means. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a rod 1 for generating a shadow 3 caused by sunlight, an image sensor 2 for reading the shadow 3 generated by the rod 1 as an image, an image processing part 5 for performing image processing from the image sensor 2, a science data part 6 for accumulating correlative information among a season, a time, a solar altitude and the latitude/longitude, a clock part 4 for acquiring time information, and a processing part 7 for calculating the position/inclination based on outputs from the image sensor 2, the science data part 6 and the clock part 4.
