PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a galvanized steel sheet having small sliding resistance at the time of press forming, and excellent in press formability. SOLUTION: In the galvanized steel sheet where the plating layer is composed mainly of aηphase, Zn based oxide and/or Zn based hydroxide is present on the surface of the plating, and the Zn based oxide and/or the Zn based hydroxide has fine ruggedness composed of projecting parts and discontinuous recessed parts surrounded by the projecting parts. In the fine ruggedness, preferably, the average spacing (S) between local summits in a roughness curve is 10 to 1,000 nm, and the average roughness (Ra) is 1 to 100 nm. Further, preferably, the surface of the plating has projecting parts and recessed parts larger than the projecting parts and the recessed parts in the Zn based oxide and/or the Zn based hydroxide, and the Zn based oxide and/or the Zn based hydroxide is present at the projecting parts in the surface of the plating.
