PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pottery capable of deodoring or removing chemical substances such as chlorine by the adsorption by a carbon powder, and capable of generating minus ions so as to activate metabolism, by which the sintered density and hardness can be made high, and the pottery hardly damaged by scratches, hardly worn out, and excellent in durability can be obtained, and which is excellent in applicability and can be applied for producing tablewares such as soup bowls or teacups. SOLUTION: The method for producing the pottery includes a forming process for obtaining a formed body by forming a pottery composition containing a carbon powder and clay into a prescribed shape and a firing process for firing the formed body obtained in the forming process at 1,000-1,350°C, preferably 1,100-1,300°C, more preferably 1,200-1,300°C in a non-oxidizing atmosphere.
