PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume-reduction method for a waste disposal site capable of enhancing workability by shortening a conveying distance between a sorting and volume-reduction device and an excavation section and a burying section of a reclaimed land. SOLUTION: In the volume-reduction treatment method for the waste disposal place, a waste 5 dug out from the excavation sections 24A, 24B, 24C of the reclaimed land 1 is sorted and volume-reduced by the sorting and volume-reduction device 4 and the sorted and volume-reduced waste 15S, 22 is re-buried in the burying sections 25A, 25B, 25C of the reclaimed land 1. The sorting and volume-reduction treatment is carried out by moving a screen sorting device 6 or the like accompanying shift (24A→24B→24C) of the excavation section such that the screen sorting device 6 is not separated from the excavation section.
