[Also in Division A5] A hospital appliance comprises an openfronted container 20 and means for producing a curtain of sterilized air 46 extending across said open front including an air inlet 51 at one edge of said open front, an air outlet 56 at the opposite edge of said open front, an air filter unit 64 capable of trapping bacteria and viruses positioned in a duct 36 in communication with said air outlet and inlet and an air blower 68 having an air inlet 74 in said duct, said blower being in communication on its inlet side with said filter and on its outlet side with said air inlet. The duct 36 may have an air damper 40 with a louvred outlet 38. The air filter may also act as a deodorizer and the container 20 may include a germicidal lamp.</p> |
