The stair step (1) has a highly compressed supporting plate such as medium density fiberboard, high density fiberboard or multiplex board with a highly friction- resistant floor-compatible laminate coating. A cut (2) is made in the upper side of the stair step in which the insert (3) can be arranged in a lockable and replaceable manner. The cut is a two- way counter profile cut.
