摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase change type optical recording medium which has the same capacity as DVD-ROM, which has a large modulation factor and enables overwriting even when a recording speed is of 8&times;(28 m/s) DVD and which varies little in reflectance and enables overwriting even after long-time storage. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The phase change type optical recording medium has at least a first intermediate layer, a recording layer, a second intermediate layer and a reflective layer in this sequence on a base. The recording layer is constituted of an alloy having a composition shown by Ga&alpha;Sn&beta;Cu&gamma;Sb&delta; (5&le;&alpha;&le;20, 10&le;&beta;&le;30, 5&le;&gamma;&le;20, 40&le;&delta;<80, &alpha;+&beta;+&gamma;+&delta;=100 atom%), and the recording medium is made recordable/erasable by utilizing the reversible phase change of the recording layer from an amorphous phase (amorphous) into a crystal phase, and vice versa.
