PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flagstaff which stably holds a flag and prevents the flag from being entangled with the flagstaff even with the flagstaff which holds only the side edges of the flag. SOLUTION: The flagstaff 1 which holds a part of flag cloth 2 and hoists the flag cloth 2 is equipped with a flagstaff body 11 and a sleeve 12 which is fitted onto the flagstaff body 11 rotatably around a central axis and holds the end on one side of the flag cloth 2. As a result, the flag cloth 2 is stably held at the flagstaff 1 and the sleeve 12 rotates according to the direction where the flag cloth 2 is trailed by wind and therefore the entanglement of the flag cloth 2 with the flagstaff 1 can be prevented.
