PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spun yarn comprising a core fiber layer as the inner layer and staple fibers wrapped on the outer circumference of the core fiber layer, and to provide a method for producing the spun yarn. SOLUTION: The spun yarn Y comprises the core fiber layer C having fluffy staple fibers c2 and a partially formed staple fiber layer y1 wrapped around the core fiber layer C, wherein the fluffy staple fibers and staple fibers s constituting the staple fiber layer y1 are interlaced with each other. Because of the structure described above, both of the core fiber layer and the wrapped staple fiber layer are exposed on the surface of the spun yarn, therefore giving the spun yarn rich in appearance profile. Further, because of the interlaced structure mentioned above, a so-called core deviation, a phenomenon that the partially wrapped staple fiber layer deviates from the longitudinal direction of the core fiber layer, does not occur.
