PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-plane switching liquid crystal display device in which abnormal rotation of a liquid crystal layer is prevented and degradation of the contrast ratio is prevented. SOLUTION: The in-plane switching liquid crystal display comprises: a pair of substrates; a liquid crystal layer held between the pair of substrates; a plurality of pixel electrodes formed between the pair of substrates; and a plurality of common electrodes arranged parallel to the pixel electrodes. Figures of the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes are approximated, and the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes are arranged parallel to each other, with all of them formed into smooth curves.
