PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leak preventing packing reduced in cost by using a low-cost raw material, easy to be handled, and facilitated in the work for connecting spiral pipes. SOLUTION: The packing is formed from a synthetic resin with closed cell forming property as a raw material, and has a long and narrow fitting part having a trapezoidal cross section to be fitted in a groove part of the spiral pipe. The packing is formed of a packing main body provided with a flange part projected from both side edges of a bottom side of a trapezoid of the fitting part to cover an angular part of the spiral pipe and a belt-like water absorbing swelling material attached to a surface of the fitting part of the packing main body, which is to be brought in contact with the bottom surface of the groove part of the spiral pipe, and a surface of the flange part, which is to be brought in contact with the angular part of the spiral pipe.
