PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable air compressor lighter and more portable than conventional one. SOLUTION: The portable air compressor 1 comprises a motor 3 having a motor shaft 5 formed of an aluminum material, bearing members 71, 72 for rotatably journaling the motor shaft, and crank pins 9a, 9b formed of aluminum materials. The crank pins 9a, 9b are inserted into the motor shaft between the bearing member 71 and the bearing member 72. The bearing members 71, 72 are formed of steel materials whose thermal expansion coefficients are different from the thermal expansion coefficient of the structural material (the aluminum material) of the motor shaft. In this construction, the air compressor is lighter and more portable than a conventional portable air compressor. Beside, wear resulting from a gap formed between the motor shaft and the crank pin is prevented and the wear of the motor shaft is also prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
