PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an image quality at an image forming apparatus or a liquid ejecting apparatus which uses a high-viscosity recording liquid. SOLUTION: After nozzle suction is carried out while a nozzle face is capped by a suction cap 72a, wiping without completely wiping the nozzle face is carried out by a wiper blade 73. Scattering of ink adhered to a blade leading end part is reduced accordingly. Thereafter, wiping of completely wiping the nozzle face is carried out by the wiper blade 73 again, so that the whole of the nozzle face is cleaned. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
