PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head which can secure operating characteristics by stabilizing resistance characteristics even in the case where a thermal resistor layer is constituted by using a semiconductor. SOLUTION: An intermediate layer 6, which includes at least either of germanium (Ge) and platinum (Pt), is provided between the thermal resistor layer 3 and an electrode layer 4; and the thermal resistor layer 3 and the electrode layer 4 are brought into ohmic contact with each other by using the intermediate layer 6. The resistance characteristics of the thermal resistor layer 3 are stabilized, even in the case where the intermediate layer 6 is not provided because a contact resistance between the thermal resistor layer 3 and the electrode layer 4 is sufficiently decreased, and where the thermal resistor layer 3 is constituted by using the semiconductor such as polycrystalline silicon, differently from a conventional thermal head wherein the contact resistance between the thermal resistor layer and the electrode layer is too high.
