PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive cover device which has a simple constitution for preventing the scattering of chips and cutting oil or the like of a machine tool. SOLUTION: Each longitudinal edge part on the center side of two plate-like rectangular members 25, 26 having the same length is arranged side by side in a slight gap. Both of the longitudinal edge parts on the center side are connected by an elastic member 27 so as to be openable/closable and in a sealed state. The outside longitudinal edge part of one plate-like rectangular member 25 is mounted to a movable body 4 of the machine tool with a hinge 28. The outside longitudinal edge part of the other plate-like rectangular member 26 is mounted to a fixed part 22 of the machine tool with a hinge 29. The lateral edge parts at both ends of the two plate-like rectangular members, which are opened/closed by the movement of the movable body, and both end closing members 3, 30, which are oppositely arranged in a slight gap respectively, are provided to the fixed part of the machine.
