The control device has a temperature comparator with a preset temperature value, used as a reference value for comparison with the temperature provided by a temperature sensor, positioned adjacent the automobile engine (20), for providing control signals for a water valve control device (131) and a cooling fan control device (151). A keyboard is coupled to the input of the temperature comparator for selection of the preset temperature value and a display is coupled to the output of the temperature comparator for indicating the preset temperature value.
