The pedal arrangement has a brake pedal (14) and an accelerator pedal (15), each provided with a foot plate (14a,15a), operated by the foot of the driver, projecting from the pedal base plate (11) of the automobile. Each pedal is sensitive to the applied force, the distance of its foot plate from the pedal base plate preventing the toe of the driver from sliding beneath the pedal.
