PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printed product that is virtually indistinguishable from silver halide photographic prints by inexpensively sealing a glossy print medium.

SOLUTION: A thermal printhead and an inkjet printhead are mounted on an inkjet printer. The inkjet printhead prints inkjet ink to form an image on a sheet of print medium. The print medium includes a sealable porous topcoat on an ink-receiving microporous layer. The thermal printhead prints the image and then supplies heat to the sealable porous topcoat to seal the topcoat to form the sealed topcoat.
