A bi-directional metering valve assembly includes a valve block (46) defining a first port (100) that receives hydraulic fluid from a source, and a second port (98) that directs hydraulic fluid to a load. A rotatable valve member (74) defines first (116) and second (114) apertures in an axial face, communicated by a channel (118) that may be placed in selective communication with the first (100) and second (98) ports, respectively, to direct hydraulic fluid from the source to the load. At least one metering sealing assembly defines a flange (132) that is sized to completely overlap and seal the correxponding aperture (114, 116). The valve member is operable to control the direction of fluid flow, and make fine adjustments to the hydraulic fluid flow rate.
