A device for protecting a metal frame against fire. The invention relates to a device for coupling metal profiles, whereby one profile is an inner more solid profile and the other is used as an envelope,i.e. possibly galvanized, stacked or reconstituted, said profiles being joined to each other either by filling with light concrete or by bars which are placed in suitable positions when the filling is a fluid. The unit must already be homogeneous in order to produce a single profile which must meet all current requirements relating to constructions and must also be fire resistant. It must also correspond to standard P92702 of December 1993 or to corresponding European standards. When the filling is a fluid, said fluid is boiled using the calories from the fire, in order to prevent the steel from being heated up, thereby enabling it to maintain the required qualities in terms of resistance and elasticity. The principal can choose the desired application according to the specific protection required a) either the security service of the building is notified for rapid intervention b) or the system can be connected to a neighbouring IUA sysem in a simple and safe manner c) or the system can comprise one or several steam condensers (fig 9), enabling the recycling of condensation water which is reintegrated into the system, thereby functioning without interruption.
