<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily continue printing according to the decision of the user, even when there is possibility of printing quality is degraded due to the consumption of a consumables. <P>SOLUTION: The printer performs printing by using consumable articles. The printer includes an input means for receiving an instruction from a user; an index value calculating means for calculating an index value representing the degree, to which the consumable article has been used; a consumption state determination means for classifying, on the basis of the index value, the consumption state of the consumable article to a first state in which the degree of consumption is low and a second state, in which the degree of consumption is high; and a control means which allows the continuation of printing when receiving an instruction from the input means, even when the consumption state of the consumable article changes from the first state to the second state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
