PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save a plating liquid and reduce a plating cost by appropriately electroless-plating only a part requiring plating such as an internal circumferential surface of a cylinder for an internal combustion engine, which is a sliding face with a piston, and by eliminating electroless-plating onto an electrode pipe and a cylinder-rolling mechanism. SOLUTION: The plating apparatus 20 for electroless-plating inner faces 9, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of the cylinder 1 for the internal combustion engine provided with a through hole 18 in a head 3 comprises a clamping means 41, 42 and 43 for keeping the cylinder 1 to a predetermined attitude; an introducing means 25, 26 and 32 for introducing the plating liquid 10 into the cylinder 1; a circulating means 40 for filling the cylinder 1 with the plating liquid 10 introduced through the introducing means 32, and passing it in the cylinder 1 at a predetermined flow rate. The plating method comprises filling the cylinder 1 with the plating liquid 10 and passing it in a direction along a central axis O of the cylinder to electroless-plate the inner faces 9, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
