<p>An annular filter element 16, Fig. 1, (not shown) of pleated sheet filter material, is slidably mounted on the tubular spigot 1 of the fuel pump of an I.C. engine, the spigot having a passage 5 through which filtered fuel is delivered to the inlet valve of the pump, and the assembly being closed by a transparent bowl 6 secured to the pump body 3 so as to form an inlet chamber 7 adapted to be connected by a passage 8 to a fuel supply line. The slidable mounting is provided by an annular gasket which is secured to one end of the element and which engages the spigot to form a sliding seal; the other end of the element is closed by an end cap which can abut the bowl, thereby limiting the axial movement of the element on the spigot.</p> |
