PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer decomposing reaction using a catalyst consisting of a modified body of a new metal cluster. SOLUTION: The polymer decomposing reaction using a cluster catalyst is provided. The polymer decomposing reaction is provided using the cluster catalyst which is the modified cluster obtained by reducing a metal cluster halide partially by hydrogen to release a halide in the metal cluster halide. The polymer decomposing reaction is provided using the cluster catalyst which is a molybdenum series metal. The polymer decomposing reaction is provided for decomposing polyolefin.
