A communication system comprising an access network, a core network, and a user equipment for connection to the core network through the access network is disclosed. The access network comprises means for receiving a request for a network access from the user equipment. The access network also comprises means for receiving network access information from the core network. The access network also comprises means for selectively controlling access to the core network for the UE in dependence on the network access information. The access network also comprises means for identifying a request for an emergency call. The access network also comprises means for disabling the means for selectively controlling access to the network responsive to identification of an emergency call.
