PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of deterioration in the resolution of a display image of a video signal and display a high-resolution image in an excellent state in using a high-resolution LCD. SOLUTION: This image pickup apparatus is provided with a switch 22 for turning interpolation processing by an interpolation filter 21 on or off in a signal processing unit 7 side. An LCD driving circuit 24 is provided with a 640-dot output oscillation frequency unit 26 for achieving a mode (640-dot output mode) in which an oscillation frequency to be supplied to a driver 28 is increased 720/640-fold, to correspond to the display of an image in which the interpolation filter 21 is turned off and a switch 27 other than a 720-dot output oscillation frequency unit 25 corresponding to an image in which the interpolation filter 21 is turned on. When a signal processing unit 7 outputs a 640-dot video signal V2, the circuit 24 sets an oscillation frequency at a 640-dot output mode in response to this, thereby enabling optimally displaying an image.
