PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of photographing, not with a feeling of incompatibility, but with a natural feeling. SOLUTION: The camera is provided with L-shaped frames 3 and 4 capable of changing the size and the aspect ratio of a visual field frame 5 while relatively moving, rear side imaging elements 6a, 6b and 6c for photographing images in photographer's eyes, and a photographing optical system 11 for imaging an object image in an internal CCD, and the image photographed by the imaging elements 6a, 6b and 6c is analyzed, and a distance up to the photographer's eye and the direction with reference to the center of the frame 5 are calculated, and based on the calculated information and the information on the size and the aspect ratio of the frame 5, optical zooming and shifting of the photographing optical system 11 are performed so that the range observed by the photographer through the frame 5 may become a photographing range, alternatively, electronic zooming and shifting are performed by segmenting the image picked up by the CCD.
