PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To indicate for a longer period, a probable running route and a road supposed to have higher possibility of running. SOLUTION: A navigation system comprises a memory means for storing probable running routes, a present position detection means for detecting the present position, a rectangular display screen, a control means for indicating the probable running route and the present position on the display screen, and a switching means for switching the display screen between shorter side at the top and long sideways. The display control means controls the switching means by choosing between shorter side at the top and long sideways so that the probable running route not yet having run or the road which is currently running on can be indicated for longer period.
