PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workpiece driving device for a grinding device by which grinding work efficiency can be improved by providing not only a working driving means for rotating a rotary support member together with a workpiece when the workpiece is ground, but also an indexing driving means for rotating the rotary support member together with the workpiece when a working position of the workpiece is indexed in the workpiece driving device for various grinding devices. SOLUTION: The workpiece driving device 3 for a grinding device is provided with a main spindle 5 for supporting the workpiece W, the working driving means 15 for rotating the main spindle 5 together with the workpiece W when the workpiece W is ground, a gear mechanism 26 for the indexing driving means, which rotates the main spindle 5 together with the workpiece W when the working position of the workpiece W is indexed, a rotational transmission state switching means, which switches to a readiness for transmission P of transmitting the rotation of the indexing driving means to the main spindle 5 and an un-readiness for transmission of the rotation of the indexing driving means to the main spindle 5, and a rotation preventing state switching means 32 which switches to a rotation preventing state M of preventing the rotation of the main spindle 5 and a rotation allowable state N of allowing the rotation of the main spindle 5. By this, not only grinding finishing is executed to the workpiece W while supporting the workpiece W to the main spindle 5 without detaching the workpiece W from the main spindle 5, but also shape creation grinding can be executed to the workpiece W after indexing the working position of the workpiece W.
