NEW SACCHAROTHRIX STRAIN, METHOD FOR PRODUCING PRAVASTATIN BY USING THE SAME AND METHOD FOR ISOLATING (HMG)-CoA REDUCTASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining (HMG)-CoA reductase inhibitor in a good yield, with high purity and at a low cost. SOLUTION: Pravastatin is isolated by the method comprising a step (1) for generating sediment by adding ammonium sulfate to a first solution containing (HMG)-CoA reductase inhibitor, a step (2) for isolating the sediment, a step (3) for obtaining a second solution by dissolving the sediment with a polar solvent, a step (4) for adjusting pH of the second solution to be about 4 to about 6 and a step (5) for isolating the (HMG)-CoA reductase inhibitor by extracting the second solution with a water-immiscible solvent.
