An air cleaner (40) that includes a first housing portion (50) having a non-circular attachment fit (110). A second housing portion (50) is attached to the first housing portion (50) to define a filter space (60). A filter element (65) includes a non-circular filter aperture (105) that defines a perimeter that is completely defined by four equal arc length segments. The filter aperture (105) is engageable with the attachment fit (110). The attachment fit (110)and the filter aperture (105) are sized to provide substantially equal contact pressure around the perimeter of the filter aperture (105) when engaged with one another.
