[Also in Division F2] A boring head comprises a casing 1, and an axially slidable sleeve 2 which carries a tool spindle 3 rotatable by a pulley 3a. Sleeve 2 has a portion 2a of polygonal cross-section, whose periphery is provided with pockets 4, 5, 51. Pressurized fluid is supplied to the pockets to lubricate and centralize the sleeve, through ports 6, 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, the latter being supplied by a pump through restrictors. Sleeve 2 is moved axially by a worm and wheel 2c, 2d the latter being connected to the sleeve by a screw thread. |
