PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractory metal core for holding a core at a desirable position to a wax die and preventing the moving of the core during casting. SOLUTION: A casting system comprising the core 10, the wax die 12 spaced from the core 10 and the refractory metal core 14, is provided. The refractory metal core 14 has a first end part seated within a slot 18 in the core 10 and a second end part contacting the wax die 12 for positioning the core 10 relative to the wax die 12. Further, the refractory metal core 14 has at least one of a mechanism 20 for providing spring loading when closed in the wax die 12 and a mechanism for mechanically locking the wax die 12 to the core 10.
