PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary variable resistor which can be reduced in the number of components and size. SOLUTION: This rotary variable resistor is provided with a case 1 holding a rotating body 8 rotatably, connection plates 2, 4, and 5 arranged on the case 1, terminals 3, 6, and 7 integrally formed by conducting with the connection plates 2, 4, and 5 and projecting to the outside of the case 1, a slider 10 held by the rotating body 8, conducting with the connection plate 2 and integrally rotating with the rotating body 8, and an insulating substrate 11 in which a resistor 12 which is slidingly in contact with the slider 10 is formed. The connection plates 4 and 5 are provided with elastic contacts 4b and 5b. The insulating substrate 11 is overlapped in the case 1 so that the elastic contacts 4b and 5b conduct with the end of the resistor 12. The terminals 3, 6, and 7 are bent to the other surface side of the insulating substrate 11. Consequently, the insulating substrate 11 can be held in the case 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
