<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic ball clutch capable of transmitting a large torque without increasing the radial size thereof and suitable for switching between the transmission and disconnection of torque by electromagnetic force. <P>SOLUTION: The torque of a wheel 10 is transmitted to or disconnected from a rotor 20 disposed on a same axis by electromagnetic action. Projection lines 24 are formed on the inner peripheral surface of the large diameter cylindrical part 23 of the rotor 20 in an approximately half area in the axial direction. A plurality of balls 70 are disposed between the outer peripheral surface of an armature 50 installed on the wheel 10 displaceably in the axial direction and the inner peripheral surface of the large diameter cylindrical part 23 of the rotor 20. A recessed part 51 in which the balls 70 are partly fitted is formed in the outer peripheral surface of the armature 50. When the armature 50 is attracted to the rotor 20 by the energization of an exciting coil 42, the balls 70 enter into a groove formed between the projection lines 24 to transmit the torque of the wheel 10 to the rotor 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
