PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more reliably execute the identification of a party, even if any identification symbol is contained in a telephone number usable for identifying the party upon the facsimile reception. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus having a function for receiving image information comprises a means for storing name data and collating telephone number information corresponding thereto, a means for deciding whether receive side telephone number data taken from the receive side exclusive of an identification symbol in reception of the image information are equal to collating telephone number data of the collating telephone number information exclusive of the identification symbol, and a means for presenting name data to a user corresponding to the collating telephone number information being the source of the collating telephone number data, if decided to be equal.
