PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus with simple configuration capable of preventing adhesion of dust and dirt to each mirror provided to an optical system movement unit and preventing image deterioration by preventing the dust and dirt from entering the inside of the housing of the image reading apparatus. SOLUTION: When the image reading apparatus 1 is in use, cover members 70, 71 are fitted to insertion holes 30, 31, projections 70c, 71c formed to the cover members 70, 71 are fitted to turning purpose grooves 18b, 19b formed to fastening screws 18, 19, and then the cover members 70, 71 are turned in a prescribed direction. Thus, the cover member 70 and the fastening screw 18, and the cover member 71 and the fastening screw 19 are integrally moved in the Z direction, and depression of the fastening screws 18, 19 in the Z direction releases the engagement state between projections 70a, 71a and borders 30a, 31a and releases the fitting state of the cover members 70, 71 to the insertion holes 30, 31.
