PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle-type discrimination device which can accurately discriminate whether a vehicle is a four-wheel or two-wheel vehicle without depending on uncertain information such as the diameter and shape of a tire when the type of a vehicle is discriminated. SOLUTION: The vehicle-type discrimination device is provided with a vehicle front detector 12 which detects the very front part of a running vehicle OM, and a front wheel discrimination part 11 which detects the front wheel ST, OB or RB of the running vehicle OM; and determines the order of each detection. The device determines that the running vehicle OM is a four-wheel vehicle when the vehicle front detector 12 detects first the very front part of the running vehicle OM, and determines that it is a two-wheel vehicle when the vehicle front detector 12 detects first the front wheel ST, OB or RB.
