PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent disconnection damages of a coated optical fiber caused by the oviposition of a cicada on an optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cable has a tearing portion 5 along the longitudinal direction of the fiber on the outer face of a resin sheath 3. The tearing portion 5 is formed into a notch groove along the longitudinal direction of the fiber and is disposed on the outer face of the resin sheath 3 opposing to a tension member 2. A coated optical fiber 1 is disposed in the vicinity of the tension member 2 and on a side different from the side opposing to the groove tearing portion 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
